Actually these are not normal lenses! They have built-in sensor, Bionz processor, Wifi/NFC wireless connection and SD card slot. These lenses have no LCD screen and no usual camera controls. You will be able to control them through your smart phone or tablet (via WiFi or NFC). The lenses can be magnetically attached on your smartphone and it works on both, Android and iOS devices. That is nothing like we have seen before. For the first time you can shoot top quality images with your smartphone. Forget these iPhone or Android lens kits!

Based on the description, it seems as though that you will be able to attach the lens onto your smart phone or tablet and then connect to it via Wi-Fi / NFC wireless connection. Once it has been connected, you can then control the functions within the lens-camera through your smart phone or tablet.

This basically means that you will  be able to see the image from your lens directly on your phone / tablet screen. More importantly you will have the capability to then control the aperture, shutter and ISO directly from your phone / tablet. Once you take your photo, these photos will then be stored within the SD-Card in the lens!

This sounds like a very interesting and new concept from Sony. It is always very exciting to hear about upcoming innovative products!

Are we really one step closer to replacing the DSLR with our phone cameras? Only time will tell… Until then we can only continue to wonder if this will just be another fad. What do you think?
