Hundreds of Insect Macro Photos Released By USGS

It’s our lucky day… The US Geological Survey (USGS) Bee Inventory and Monitoring Lab has released hundreds of high resolution macro photos of bees and other insects as part of the lab’s survey into the native American bee species. Here are some of our favorite photos –

We urge you to spend some time looking through the collection of macro photos. They are so detailed and wonderful.

Just in case you are interested, we came across the following ‘Handy Bee Manual’ from USGS Native Bee Inventory and Monitoring Lab. Within the document, it covers off how to catch, identify bees and manage a collection. It also talks briefly on how to photograph the bees from Page 45 onwards (word of warning – there may be photos that might be disturbing to some readers). It is a very interesting read – so make sure you get your hands on it for some bed time reading!
